Read the Label. You are what you eat. Peripheral neuropathy symptoms are worsened by consuming neurotoxins. Find out how to reduce pain and inflammation by avoiding these sneaky additives.
Peripheral neuropathy is often a result of multiple factors such as chronic health issues, trauma, alcoholism, infections and medication side effects.
What you may not realize is that your pain is worsened if you consume certain foods and food additives. The old saying: “You are what you eat” is pretty accurate, because what you take in has to be processed by your body.
But what if certain foods and additives wreak havoc on your body’s natural healing systems?
Many doctors are quick to give you pain relieving medications to help you ease the pain, but what about the fire that’s causing the pain in the first place?
If you look deeper into your health picture, you’ll see a pattern of disabling symptoms such as:
- Sleepless nights
- Trouble walking and balancing
But how do you turn the tables on peripheral neuropathy and get your life back?
Stop Pain and Inflammation At the Source
As a former neuropathy sufferer, I know you must feel defeated and depressed about what’s happening to your life, but there’s some powerful ways to help your body do what it does best: recover.
When you have peripheral neuropathy, nerves, brain and organs malfunction due to the heavy stress your body is under.
The result is inflammation and pain.
Inflammation causes pressure on your nerves from the outside in, but certain foods cause inflammation from the inside out.
We know that avoiding certain foods and additives worsen peripheral neuropathy pain and slow degeneration.
That’s why we include a comprehensive list of foods to avoid and foods to use to help replenish and restore proper nerve functioning in my Neuropathy Recovery Program.
Your nerves are crying out for help. It pays to listen!
For the best relief, make some simple lifestyle changes that will reduce inflammation and get you back on your feet.
You can do this!
Foods and Food Additives to Avoid At All Costs
Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
MSG is a neurotoxin that over stimulates sensory nerves and can also damage the lining of your intestinal wall if used for a prolonged period of time.
The New England Journal of Medicine touted the phrase: “Chinese Restaurant Syndrome” back in the 1960’s.
They found that people would experience tingling,
brain fog or “prickles”, numbness and pain after a meal.
Did you know this flavor enhancer goes well beyond prepared Chinese food?
In fact, while it’s required to be listed by the FDA when used as a flavor enhancer, if it’s used as a food
But even with the knowledge of the danger of this food additive, it is still being added to foods by it’s original name and other lesser known names.
LIVESTRONG lists: “glutamic acid, yeast extract, hydrolyzed protein as well as soy protein isolate, soy protein concentrate, whey protein, whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, autolyzed plant protein, hydrolyzed oat flour and textured protein.”
Aspartame is a common sugar alternative found in diet soda and other products. It worsens inflammation because it is toxin.
Do a trial and remove it from your diet. You’ll notice a change within 4-6 weeks.
Some of my patients have noticed a difference sooner.
Trans fatty acids are most often found in store bought processed foods. They reduce normal blood flow to your capillaries.
Your capillaries are small blood vessels and they allow water, oxygen and nutrients to get to your nerves.
If their functioning is slowed, it robs your nerves of receiving vital fuel to function and to release harmful toxins like carbon dioxide.
As a former neuropathy sufferer, I know you must feel defeated and depressed about what’s happening to your life, but there’s powerful ways to help your body do what it does best: recover.
Starting today, eliminate these additives and start experiencing less pain and more freedom!
You deserve it.
If my patients and I can do it, you can too!
